This policy explains what personal information Let's Live Abroad! collects through this website, why we collect it, and what cookies the site uses. We handle your information in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

We are the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect

• Information you send us. When you complete an enquiry or contact form we collect your name, email address, telephone number and anything you write in the message, together with the property or location you enquired about.
• Technical information. Our web server records the usual access details - your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is standard server logging, used to keep the site running and secure.

We do not ask for, and this website does not collect, payment card details.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and to send you the property information you asked for. Where you have asked us to act, this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• To keep in touch about properties that match your enquiry, where you have agreed to that. You can ask us to stop at any time.
• To keep the website working and secure, including preventing spam and automated abuse of our forms. This is our legitimate interest in protecting the site.

Cookies this site uses

This website does not use advertising cookies, and it does not run Google Analytics or any other website analytics package. The only cookies set are:

• Session cookies (cfid and cftoken). These identify your browsing session so the site works correctly as you move between pages. They are strictly necessary and are not used to track you or to build any profile of you.
• Google reCAPTCHA. Our enquiry and contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a form is being completed by a person rather than an automated script. Google may set cookies and collect device and usage information for this purpose. We treat this as strictly necessary to protect our forms from abuse - without it the forms would be unusable through spam. Google's use of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the site may not work correctly without its session cookies. The Information Commissioner's Office publishes guidance on cookies if you would like to know more.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing. We share it only with:

• the overseas property agents or developers dealing with the specific enquiry you made, so that they can respond to you;
• the suppliers who run this website and our email systems on our behalf; and
• anyone we are legally required to disclose it to.

Sending information outside the UK

Some of our suppliers, and Google in the case of reCAPTCHA, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy decisions or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for as long as we are dealing with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us - normally two years from your last contact with us. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. We keep some records for longer where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw any consent you have given.
